Samsung recently turned a few heads during the Society for Information Display (SID) Display Week 2022 event in San Jose, United States when it demoed the ‘Flex Note’, a new device that showcased the company’s foldable display technology prowess. Essentially a tablet-laptop hybrid, it looks similar to a regular clamshell laptop but with the whole inside of the device being all-display.

The company shared a video of the Flex Note in itsSamsung Display Newsroom, alongside its other latest display innovations. These include an eco-friendly display that uses less power consumption called the Eco² OLED and Diamond Pixel, a display using a pixel design that produces superior image quality and readability.

As for the Flex Note, it’s part of Samsung’s Flex OLED lineup, which is its next generation display design that folds and slides. The Flex Note itself has got to be one of the most practical designs from the Flex OLED lineup demo, whereby it allows for more screen real-estate than a conventional laptop which in turn allows for better multi-tasking.

When unfolded, the bottom half of the display will morph into a full-size keyboard . However, the keyboard can disappear or customised to put in additional apps or customised virtual control button as desired by the user. In fact, you can even fully unfold the Flex Note to turn it into a massive tablet that looks more like a thin, portable monitor.

For now, the Flex Note is still just a prototype with Samsung not revealing any official plans to release the device yet. Well, you can bet that we will be covering the device should it be launched by Samsung in the future.
