When it comes to getting a new smartphone, will you check for the storage type and how fast the device can read or write data? These days, most of the smartphones are doing a good job processing our data. With many smartphone manufacturers adopting the new standard UFS 3.0 storage to their latest flagship devices, it seems like data transferring speed is not even a thing for us to worry about, at least for now. To be ahead of time, Samsung has started producing UFS 3.1 storage modules, and they are said to be used in flagships later this year.

The space of the eUFS 3.1 storage that the Korean tech giant is producing comes with 512GB. Samsung has claimed that the new standard will offer three times faster write speed than UFS 3.0, and it is expected to breach the 1GBps barrier as well. The company has also mentioned that their eUFS 3.1 storage is able to move 100GB of data in just 1.5 minutes, while UFS 3.0 storage will require more than 4 minutes to finish the same task.

Other than that, the eUFS 3.1 storage is indeed future-proof as more and more smartphones are getting higher tech specs to accommodate the ever-changing industry. Nowadays, even taking 8K videos using a smartphone is no longer an impossible task. With that being said, a faster speed of storage will be required to access those high-quality videos without any hassle. The new type of storage is expected to come with smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Note 20 and possibly the Samsung Galaxy Fold 2 later this year, and 128GB and 256GB options will be offered as well.
