It seems that Samsung Display Company has recently announced that they have developed a display technology which could significantly reduce the power consumption of smartphones. While not much is known in regards to when this technology will be available in smartphones, techradar did mention that the Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is currently using it.
To go into more detail, it seems that the aforementioned display technology helps reduce power consumption by intelligent decreasing the refresh rate of the display when it is displaying content to does not require a high refresh rate. Furthermore, it will apparently decrease the refresh rate to as low as 10Hz when viewing still images or to as high as 120Hz while mobile gaming.
