Samsung Electronics has concluded the 2025 Odyssey Cup Counter-Strike 2 Championship, bringing together top competitive teams from Southeast Asia and Oceania for a high-profile esports showdown. The tournament capped off with an in-person Grand Finals held at EBN Esports City from 12 to 14 December, where eight finalist teams competed for a total prize pool of US$50,000 (~RM197725).

SemperFi Esports Claims the Title

Australia’s SemperFi Esports emerged as champions after a closely contested final against Indonesia’s Deep Cross Gaming, securing the top prize of US$20,000. Players competed on Samsung’s Odyssey G5 G50F QHD 180Hz gaming monitors, which served as the official tournament display. The monitors feature a QHD resolution, a 180Hz refresh rate, and a 1ms response time, specifications aimed at delivering fast response and visual clarity required for high-level Counter-Strike 2 play.

Players and Organisers Highlight Competitive Experience

James Savage, team captain of SemperFi Esports, said his journey into competitive gaming began at the age of nine and was shaped by watching professional tournaments. He noted that high refresh rates, low response times, and strong contrast are critical features for competitive play, citing the tournament setup as a key enabler of on-stage performance.

Leslie Goh, Head of Regional Display Solutions for Samsung Southeast Asia and Oceania, said the company was pleased to see strong participation and an energetic atmosphere throughout the event. He added that this year’s Odyssey Cup recorded a higher number of sign-ups than previous editions, reflecting growing enthusiasm for competitive gaming in the region.

Partners Power the Event Experience

Returning as a key partner for the second consecutive year, TCP Red Bull Malaysia supported the event by energising players and fans throughout the finals. Additional partners, including Logitech, TTRacing, and Newswav, contributed to the overall success of the tournament, with on-site activities and giveaways adding to the experience. Attendees also stood a chance to win a TTRacing gaming chair through an exclusive on-site draw.

Building Momentum for the Gaming Community

Looking ahead, Samsung said it remains committed to growing the regional gaming ecosystem through continued innovation and esports partnerships. By combining competitive events with high-performance hardware and community engagement, the company aims to create experiences that resonate with both professional players and casual fans across Southeast Asia and Oceania.
