The day that a smartphone will have as much storage as a PC is finally here. SanDisk and Micron unveiled their 1TB microSD cards over at MWC 2019 today. Micron states that their cards will be the world’s first commercially available card whereas SanDisk counters that their cards will be the fastest among the two.

SanDisk isn’t just making a claim about their write speeds being better than Micron’s though. Micron’s read speed reaches a peak of 100MB/s while SanDisk’s reads at 150MB/s. However, that’s where SanDisk’s advantage ends. In terms of write speeds, Micron’s is at 95MB/s beating SanDisk’s which is at 90MB/s.

So far the only pricing for the SDcard that we know of is SanDisk’s and it comes with a pretty hefty price tag of USD$449 (~RM1828)! We can expect these cards to be out in the late Q2 of 2019. Honestly, I can see many passing on the SDcard due to the hefty price tag but my question is, is it worth the price? For the latest tech news, TechNave.com is the place to check it out!
