Regardless of whether you're a regular social media user or own a special page, chances are you've encountered toxic people that thrive on the internet. Well, Instagram is looking to put the controls back in your hand by announcing new features that will help you manage your account.

With the new update, you'll now be able to mass delete comments. First, tap on a comment and you will see a three-dotted icon appear on the top-right. By tapping on that and selecting 'Manage Comments', you'll be able to select and remove up to up to 25 comments. You'll also be able to restrict or block accounts from commenting on your posts. On the flip side, you can also choose to highlight comments that you like by pinning them to the top of a post's comment thread.

Another useful feature is the ability to choose who can tag or mention you. In the settings menu, you can now set it so that nobody or only those who follow you can tag or mention you on Instagram. Overall, these features are there to help you maintain a positive 'environment' on your Instagram account, which can be particularly important if you have a large following.

The three new features should already be available in both the Android and iOS version of the mobile app, so check your app to see if it's updated.
