We shared news a couple months ago saying that Huawei is considering on building a Tizen-based smartwatch for the global market. Thus far, they have yet to share any news on that one. Instead, we have a new smartwatch from Huawei – it is called the Huawei S1.

This smartwatch is a simple tracker that looks designed to be a basic tracker and watch for the active lifestyle on the go.  The S1 seems ideal for the athletically inclined. It has a heart rate sensor on the back, real time exercise intensity monitoring based on your physical condition, a personal pedometer, and you can even go for a swim with the watch on since the Huawei S1 is water resistant up to a depth of 50m. It also has some smartwatch features. Once paired with your smartphone, it will let you know who’s calling, give you message alerts and sedentary reminders, and function as an alarm clock.

It suspiciously looks like the Honor Band Z1, down to the e-ink display used for the face. So far there is no official news of it being available outside of China, but there it will be priced at RMB 699 (~RM 435). Stay tuned to TechNave for more news on the Huawei S1.
