Sci-fi fans will enjoy the new feature added to Google Maps

If you're a sci-fi nerd, you'll probably like the new feature added to Google Maps recently. Now, when you access Google Maps on a desktop browser, there's a new Space menu that allows you to see all the planets and accompanying moons in our solar system. We wonder when did Google quietly add this in...

Among the first to discover this new feature is Reddit user CNCK, who posted a short clip of the new feature in action. To see it for yourself, you need to access Google Maps from a desktop browser (preferably Chrome). Next, zoom all the way out, then switch to 'Globe' mode and press the 'Satelite' button. Alternatively, you can access it by going to www.google.com.my/maps/space.

Once in, you'll see a new menu called 'Space' on the left, which displays a list of planets and moons. Clicking on any one will move you to the target and the transition animation looks like a hyperspace jump scenes you'd see in sci-fi series. While the feature itself probably doesn't mean much to a lot of people, it's something fun you can play around with to spice up your day.
