The Selangor Immigration Department (JIM) has announced the introduction of MyOnline Passport Kiosk at the Shah Alam Urban transformation Centre (UTC). Aimed at facilitating the process and application of obtaining a passport, the initiative is a proactive approach by the department to help walk-in applicants to its office at UTC, especially during peak hours.

In an official Facebook post, Selangor JIM shared that the state have 2900 Malaysian International Passport (PMA) applications per day and almost 60,000 applications per month. As such makes Selangor JIM one of the highest PMA-producing offices in Malaysia.

Hence, the introduction of these kiosks will make the process smoother and allows for customers to obtain a PMA more easily and quickly. The department further elaborated that those that are eligible to use the kiosk facilities include applicants aged 13 years and above and not from the new PMA application category, the elderly, persons with disabilities (PwD), renewal of lost and damaged PMAs and students aged 21 and below who wish to continue their studies abroad.

Speaking of the kiosks, Selangor JIM also hoped that such an initiative can be expanded nationwide. For now, it is only available in Selangor.
