The Selangor state government via Tourism Selangor yesterday launched the ‘Go Selangor’, a mobile app that provides tourists full access to tourism products in the state. The only state tourism app available in Malaysia, it is hoped that the platform can help boost the economy in Selangor.

State Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Orang Asli Affairs Committee chairman, Hee Loy Sian said the app will serve as a 'one-stop centre' for various merchants comprising of operators and traders to encourage tourists to explore the interesting locations in Selangor. He further stressed that the launch was in line with his team's efforts in digitising the tourism industry in Selangor.

The development of the app was announced by Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on 26 November last year. Since then, the app was developed in partnership with Tourplus Technology, a local startup company for an estimated cost of RM3 million.

As reported by Selangorkini, Loy Sian said that the Go Selangor app is very convenient, whereby tourists can easily purchase tickets, book hotels, chalets, homestays, transportation and various others through it. So far, there are over 300 merchants registered on the app with the team targeting 100,000 merchant registration by the end of 2022.

Speaking of which, there will be no charge for the first year for traders and operators that want to register as merchants on the app. An annual fee of RM300 will be enforced starting from the second year.

Android users can now download the Go Selangor app via Google Play Store. As for iPhone users, the app will only be available on the Apple App Store next month.
