The Selangor government will announce its decision to allow electronic cigarettes, or vaping, in the state by the end of this week or early next week. The decision will only be taken after a policy paper on the proposal is presented to the Selangor State Executive Council. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, Selangor banned all forms of vape advertising throughout the state for violating the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2023 (Act 852) to protect the community, especially the younger generation, from the increasingly worrying dangers of vaping. In Malaysia, the sale of vapes has been banned in Johor, Kelantan and Terengganu but it still falls into the hands of consumers.
Although sales have not been banned in Selangor, the Selangor State Fatwa Committee has ruled that the use of electronic cigarettes and vaping is haram. Well, that’s all we know for now. Hopefully, everything will be sorted out soon. After all, Selangor deserves a healthier community.
