The Selangor State Government is currently planning to enforce a ban on the use of plastic bags every Friday to Sunday starting in 2025, at any business premises. This initiative is said to be one of the steps in further reducing the use of plastic bags. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, Selangor has implemented a zero-plastic bag program since 2010 and is supported by the vast majority of supermarkets and businesses. If the user also wants a plastic bag, a charge of 20 cents will be charged for each plastic bag, and the money will be channelled to programs related to the environment.

For now, the Selangor government is in the process of evaluating the jurisdiction to enforce this initiative later. We have yet to confirm other details on the news. Hopefully, everything will go smoothly.
