Sennheiser could sell its consumer electronics division to concentrate on its professional businesses

When you talk about premium audio, Sennheiser would be one of the biggest brands around. Yet that company could be looking to sell its consumer electronics business, allowing another company to take over.

Yesterday, Sennheiser announced that it wants to focus its resources on its professional businesses. This refers to its Pro Audio, Business Communications, and Neumann (studio microphones) divisions. For Consumer Electronics, the company is hoping for a 'strong partner' to invest in it. Mind you, this might not mean that Sennheiser will sell all the stakes for the business.

Sennheiser also makes studio microphones

It could be a joint partnership where the partner provides the funds, while Sennheiser's engineering team designs the product. Allegedly, talks with potential partners will soon take place, but no candidates have been named yet. It's speculated that the Sennheiser's revenue in this aspect is not great, despite the quality of its headphones and soundbars.

A new partner could result in better or even cheaper Sennheiser headphones. Not likely to happen, but one can hope, right? Having said that, what do you think about another company potentially taking over? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates on this.
