With electric vehicles (EVs) becoming mainstream, Shell just announced its latest plan to set up an electric vehicle charging hub in Resorts World Genting. Dubbed Shell Recharge, it will consist of 10 charging bays outfitting an ultra-fast 360kW high-performance charging (HPC) to enable EVs accessibility at the resort destination by early next year.

Through the strategic partnership with Porsche Malaysia and Genting Malaysia Berhad, this EV hub will be the latest addition to the Shell Recharge EV network of 136 charging points strategically located in key cities and along highways in Peninsular Malaysia, connecting Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. The all-in-one charging hub will outfit 10 bays comprising four bays of 360kW high-performance charging and six bays of 22kW AC chargers.

As Shell Recharge is transitioning to the kilowatt-hour (kWh) pricing mechanism, all chargers come with CCS Type 2 charging connectors, allowing EV drivers a super-fast speed charging experience. This also allows customers to charge with the new kWh rates when they charge with AC chargers nationwide effective on the 1st of November 2023 while for DC charging stations, beginning on the 15th of December.

Additionally, it maintains a reservation fee and will implement an idle charge across different charging archetypes to prioritise the smart parking bays for EV owners. Customers can still reserve parking bay in advance via Shell’s ParkEasy app, as well as use other features such as navigation access for EV customers to assist drivers in locating available bays and a parking barrier to ensure the bay's availability.
