Nowadays, smartphone manufacturers are brainstorming ways to hide the front-facing cameras to bring beautiful bezel-less screens to their consumers. As time goes by, the ideas that are used to hide the selfie cameras are becoming bolder and more interesting. Just today, patents from OPPO have revealed side pop-up front-facing camera that looks amazing!

The patent found in the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) database gave us a first look at the side-mounted pop-up camera on an OPPO smartphone. It looks like the camera will be retracted to be with other rear cameras and the flashlight when not in use. This helps to hide the pop-up camera as it doesn’t look like an extra space is needed for the placement of the front-facing camera.

More than that, the patent also revealed some other details on the design of the smartphone. Those details including a power button on the right side, volume rockers and sim slot at the left, and a speaker, Type-C connector with a headphone jack at the bottom. It is unsure that the smartphone will be released at all, as manufacturers normally don’t make all of their patents into real devices.
