Some of you might have already gotten a new message ping from WhatsApp about the new privacy policy which will be shared with Facebook. While they claimed it's for marketing and ads purpose, many see this as an intrusion to their privacy and Elon Musk is telling everyone to switch to Signal.
For those who don't know, Signal is another messaging app which Elon Musk tweeted last week. In just two words ("Use Signal"), it seems that the company's server is experiencing verification codes delay with a sudden spike of new users. They are currently working with several carriers to solve this issue as soon as possible.
Use Signal

Verification codes are currently delayed across several providers because so many new people are trying to join Signal right now (we can barely register our excitement). We are working with carriers to resolve this as quickly as possible. Hang in there.

With that said, Signal has indirectly become a new competitor for WhatsApp. However, it won't be easy for current WhatsApp users to transition to Signal or other apps especially in Malaysia. Many friends and family chat groups, as well as for work and small businesses are already there for a long time.
