The new Siri, powered by Apple Intelligence, may be released to consumers earlier than expected. This is a pleasant surprise for iOS fans. So, what should you know about it?
In Mark Gurman's latest Power On, it was revealed that some new Siri features could arrive in iOS 18.3, as opposed to the previously expected iOS 18.4. Gurman also provided some additional details on the development timeline and other expected iOS 18 release dates, as follows:
- iOS 18.1, which will support Apple Intelligence, is expected to be released in mid-October.
- iOS 18.2 - including features like Genmoji, ChatGPT integration and the Image Playground app, should be ready internally in early November and released in December.
- iOS 18.3 - expected to be completed by the end of the year and released in January.
- iOS 18.4, which will introduce several new Siri features, is expected to be completed in early February and smooth as early as March.
This phased rollout of Apple Intelligence may "test the patience" of some users. While it's not unusual for Apple to delay the release of new features, Gurman said the scale of this year's delays is unprecedented. Furthermore, Apple is making the still-unavailable features a major selling point for the new iPhone.
