VADS Lyfe and Cyberview Sdn Bhd recently launched the pilot of the Smart Traffic Analytics and Recognition System as part of Malaysia's Internet of Things initiative, particularly involving traffic. Imagine traffic lights that let the system know when they are broken and adaptive and intelligent traffic lights that change the sequence of traffic as or when traffic happens in real time. The system utilizes existing video camera systems with a few more additional cameras to make these decisions intelligently.

The solution will start with Cyberjaya for their first testing period in the hope of reducing the time it takes to travel on Malaysia's roads while improving safety, security and energy management. No specific release dates for when we might see this being rolled out to the rest of Malaysia but the effort may soon cut down peak traffic times through smart technology, but for now, this is mostly for those living in Cyberjaya.
