Snapchat launches Spotlight feature to compete with TikTok

Social media apps are constantly competing for attention and sometimes imitating popular features is the path taken. That's quite obvious when you see the different platforms coming out with short-form video features to compete with TikTok. In fact, Snapchat is now a part of that gang.

Yesterday, Snapchat officially introduced a new feature called Spotlight. There will be a tab just for the new features within Snapchat, where you can see short videos that the app's algorithm will recommend to you. You will also be able to post your own Spotlights. For extra privacy, Snapchat has made it so that Spotlight videos don't have a public comments section and your profile will be set to private.

An interesting move Snapchat is taking is providing an incentive for creators to start using Spotlight. The company will be giving away up to USD 1 million (~RM4.09 million) to creators who have uploaded a viral video. We're not sure when this special incentive would end, but you can check out the official blog post for details.

If you have an idea you think might go viral and earn you some extra money, why not give it a try? With that said, what do you think of Snapchat's new feature? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
