Qualcomm has unveiled the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 Mobile Platform, the newest addition to its 6-series lineup, and it is designed to bridge the gap between budget chips and flagship processors. According to Qualcomm, the chip offers an estimated 11 % faster CPU performance, 29 % better graphics rendering, and 12 % power savings versus its predecessor.

CPU, Architecture and Others

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is built on a 4nm process and features an 8-core CPU cluster with 1× Cortex-A720 at up to 2.3 GHz, 3× Cortex-A720 at 2.2 GHz, and 4× Cortex-A520 cores at 1.8 GHz. The GPU is the Adreno 810, paired with a Hexagon NPU for AI tasks.

This platform supports up to 16GB of RAM (LPDDR5 at up to 3200 MHz) and UFS 3.1 storage. On the imaging side, it supports up to a 200-megapixel camera sensor, plus advanced AI and video features.

The chip includes a 5G modem capable of fast speeds, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4 and support for high-quality audio via aptX. Gaming and display features include support for high refresh-rate panels and advanced processing for smoother visuals.

An Improvement for Mid-Tier Phones?

While the Snapdragon 6 Gen 4 is positioned in the mid-tier, it borrows many features from higher-end chips — giving smartphone makers the flexibility to offer premium experiences at lower price points. For consumers, this means faster performance, better graphics, smarter AI features, and longer battery life in devices that won’t necessarily cost flagship prices.
