Finally, Qualcomm has unveiled its latest flagship-tier chipset. Instead of being called the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, the company renamed it to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform. Taking on the Elite name, Qualcomm said it represents the "remarkable" progress of the industry as the world's fastest mobile SoC ever.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite features industry-leading technologies such as the second generation custom-built Qualcomm Oryon CPU, Qualcomm Adreno GPU and enhanced Qualcomm Hexagon NPU. On paper, it can empower and transform users' experiences with their devices with multi-modal generative AI applications. It also enhances camera capabilities with AI-ISP, mobile gaming and faster web browsing.
For the uninitiated, the first generation Qualcomm Oryon of the Snapdragon mobile platforms first debuted on PCs. With the second generation of the Qualcomm Oryon CPU for Mobile Platform, Qualcomm expects consumers to be thrilled with the new experiences enabled by our CPU technology, said Chris Patrick, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc.
He also added that the new Snapdragon 8 Elite will deliver "dramatic performance enhancements and power efficiency". In addition, the chipset will also revolutionize mobile experiences by offering the understanding of speech, context, and images to enhance everything from productivity to creativity tasks while prioritizing user privacy.
We can now expect several Android brands to announce their upcoming flagships to equip the Snapdragon 8 Elite anytime soon. With that, stay tuned for the official news at TechNave.com.
