By now, you should have read news about Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It's coming out on several Android flagships soon and if you're curious about the performance, read the benchmark tests done by AndroidHeadlines.com below.
According to the source, they were given an hour to benchmark the Snapdragon 8 Elite and to make a comparison, they also brought out other flagships equipped with the A18 Pro, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Dimensity 9300 and others. The Snapdragon 8 Elite QRD device that was tested sports 24GB of LPDDR5x RAM up to 4.8Gbps, 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage, a 6.8-inch WFHD+ 144Hz AMOLED display and a 4,167mAh battery pack.
As per usual, the standard app to use for benchmarking is none other than Geekbench 6. Below is the table of all the scores in single-core, multi-core and GPU:
| Chipsets | Geekbench Single-core | Geekbench Multi-core | Geekbench GPU | 3D Mark Extreme Stress Test | AnTuTu |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Snapdragon 8 Elite QRD | 3,220 | 10,415 | 17,867 | 7,121 | 3,035,115 |
| Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra for Geekbench and Xiaomi 14 Ultra for AnTuTu) | 2,176 | 6,567 | 11,414 | 4,376 | 1,771,035 |
| A18 Pro (Apple iPhone 16 Pro) | 2,981 | 7,939 | 32,846 | 3,976 | 1,657,579 |
| Tensor G4 (Google Pixel 9 Pro XL) | 1,947 | 4,654 | 6,464 | 2,565 | 1,187,754 |
| MediaTek Dimensity 9300 (Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra) | 2,191 | 7,358 | 12,204 | 5,352 | 2,038,129 |
So what is the takeaway from this benchmark test? Well, Qualcomm wasn't kidding about the Snapdragon 8 Elite being strong in its CPU performance. In fact, it managed to beat Apple's A18 Pro which is a rare feat. However, Apple is still ahead with its GPU score thanks to the iPhone's capability of playing console-level games. As for comparing the Snapdragon 8 Elite and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, the former has a 37% improvement which is quite a jump.
On the other hand, they also ran a 3D Mark Extreme Stress Test on all the devices above. Once again, the Snapdragon 8 Elite came out on top with over 7,000 points, followed by Dimensity 9300. Moreover, it also crushed the competition in its AnTuTu benchmark score with over three million points, a first in the industry. Although Google's Tensor G4 chip is seen as underperforming, it's important to note that the chipset is meant to enhance AI capabilities instead of speed performance.
We can't wait to get our hands on the realme GT 7 Pro as it will be the first Snapdragon 8 Elite phone coming to Malaysia in November. Until then, stay tuned for our news coverage at TechNave.com.
