As you may know, Qualcomm launches a new flagship mobile chipset every year. This year's Snapdragon Summit will be held from 15 to 17 November 2022 and should see the launch of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 7 Gen 2. Already, the details of the former's plus variant are under speculation.

According to Digital Chat Station, there will be an ultra high-frequency variant of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 variant next year. While not specified, this variant could be the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 and feature an improved GPU. For reference, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 already runs clock speeds between 3.4 to 3.5GHz. The next generation's plus variant will allegedly run at even higher frequencies.

Like its predecessors, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 will be manufactured on the 4nm process. It could mean that Qualcomm is achieving higher frequencies by pushing the power limit, which could result in higher temperatures. If that is true, and if cooling systems in mobile phones don't see any significant improvements, we could have hotter flagship smartphones next year.

We're mostly speculating, but hotter flagship smartphones are highly possible. Will smartphone brands could surprise us with innovative new cooling systems? Let us know what you think in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more updates on this.
