Someone is selling the Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G for ~RM16,321 on eBay

The Samsung Galaxy Fold 5G has been released for a few days now since early September 2019, and while it cost a 'limb' to get one, there are some buyers who got the phone and are reselling it again on eBay for nearly 5 million won. That's a rough ~RM17,575 from direct conversion, by the way.

Reason being for the ridiculous price hike is due to the shortage of Galaxy Fold units. During the first official pre-order sales, the units were sold out within 10 minutes and it was speculated that there were only 3000 - 4000 of them, including the South Korean telecommunication companies. Furthermore, Samsung Electronics plans to sell about 20,000 - 30,000 units in Korea and launch the Galaxy Fold in limited quantities in over 20 countries.

With that, someone on eBay last week was selling two Galaxy Folds for $3900 each (~RM16,321), and the ones that are not unboxed yet was at least $4,500 (~RM18,828). Now that's what I call a ransom.

Well, can't say we are that surprised. Apple's first personal computer, the Apple 1, created by Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak in 1976 was auctioned off for $815,000 (~RM3,410,775) at a 2016 auction. That Macintosh was the first commercial graphics (GUI) computer from Apple in 1984.

Would you be willing to spend that much on a Galaxy Fold? And will we ever see it in Malaysia? Stay tuned for more Samsung news at TechNave.com.
