While fans of Sony personal audio devices must be waiting for a successor to the WH-1000XM3 headphone, we're probably not going to see that so soon. Instead, Sony has something for the home entertainment crowd in the new HT-S20R soundbar. This is a 5.1-channel soundbar that aims to deliver high audio quality with its 400W power output.

As you can see from the product image, the HT-S20R soundbar is accompanied by a subwoofer and two rear speakers. Unlike most soundbars, a number of the I/O ports like the audio-in, HDMI-ARC (for compatible TVs), and an optical input are actually located at the back of the subwoofer. It also has a USB port on the front that supports direct playback via USB memory drives.

Aside from that, you can also connect your smartphone to the HT-S20R and wirelessly stream your favourite music that way. During audio playback, you can switch between Auto, Standard, Cinema, and Music equaliser settings to adjust the sound signature. Even the subwoofer's output can be set to either Night or Voice modes.

The company has not revealed the full tech specs and features yet, but we do know that the expected Malaysian launch window would be in June 2020. We expect the pricing to be revealed closer to the launch as well, though since Sony claims that it will bring "the ultimate cinema experience to every home", here's hoping that it will be relatively affordable.
