For professional photographers, a new camera lens is always something exciting. With that in mind, Sony has announced a new full-frame lens for its Alpha cameras. Say hi to the FE 50mm F1.2 GM, a G Master lens designed for stills and videos.
Sony confirmed that the new lens (model SEL50F12GM) is the company's 60th E-mount lens. As the name suggests, it's an F/1.2 aperture lens meant for taking still images and videos. It uses three extreme aspherical (XA) lens elements to deliver high resolution for images, as well as Nano AR Coating II to reduce flare and ghosting.
In terms of features, the FE 50mm F1.2 GM comes with four extreme dynamic linear motors. This allows it to keep subjects in focus at extremely shallow depth-of-field, yet maintain quiet autofocus and tracking. It also has a minimum focus distance of 0.4m, Linear Response MF (Manual Focus), on/off switch on the aperture ring, and more.
