Sony Malaysia today announced that it will be releasing its smallest and lightest noise-cancelling truly wireless headphones the Sony LinkBuds S in a new colour variation called “Earth Blue” in our country on 14 November 2022. Created using recycled resin material generated from water server bottles to reflect the company’s commitment to reducing the environmental impact of its products.

The new colour variant is the fourth colour that the earbuds are offered in alongside the white, black and ecru options that have been available since June 2022. Moreover, the LinkBuds S will also be getting a new multipoint connection, whereby users can seamlessly switch between the LinkBuds series and the WF-1000XM4 headphones via a software update.

In a statement today, Sony Malaysia elaborated that parts of the body and case of LinkBuds S in Earth Blue are made from recycled water bottle materials which creates a unique marble pattern. It was originally developed by Sony in pursuit of a new design expression with the aim of expanding the potential use of recycled materials from water server bottles.

Furthermore, the material has been developed uniquely for the LinkBuds S Earth Blue model by taking advantage of the adhesive properties of the water server bottle material. The texture of the marble pattern was then created, with each product designed to have a different pattern.

In addition to the Earth Blue model, the whole LinkBuds series also comes with all packaging on the headphones being plastic free and the headphones using recycled materials from automobile parts. The new colour variation will be available in Malaysia on 14 November 2022, though Sony has yet to reveal its pricing.

Currently, the LinkBuds S in the white, black and ecru colour options are priced at RM929 in our country, though as of the time of writing, you can get them at RM699 at the official Sony Malaysia store. It is uncertain whether the new colour will be sold at a different price point.
