Are you one of those hoping to play older VR titles on the upcoming Sony PlayStation VR2 (PS VR2)? Well, don't ditch your current version headset because you will need it. That's because the new headset won't be backwards compatible with PS VR games.
Sony confirmed this during the Tokyo Game Show 2022 this week. During a podcast (via PlayStation Blog), Hideaki Nishino (SVP of Platform Experience) said that this is because the PS VR2 was intended for a "truly next-generation VR experience". After all, the new headset will have more advanced features, a new controller with adaptive triggers, eye tracking, 3D audio, and more.

No Man's Sky is (currently) the only PS VR game that will work on the PS VR2
As you can imagine, Sony has decided to make new games that cater to these advanced features instead of trying to adapt previous titles to the new platform. Of course, game developers could make new versions of existing VR games for the PS VR2. But currently, the only PS VR game confirmed to work on the new headset is No Man's Sky.
Honestly, VR games are quite a niche, which means most gamers won't be bothered by this. But what do you think, are game developers and headset makers doing enough to make VR appealing? Share your thoughts in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news about the Sony PS VR2.
