Sony PlayStation 5 is getting a facelift - This is what you need to know about the new tech and specs

Sony fans are in for a treat, looks like the PS5 will have a facelift soon. From this November onwards, Sony will roll out the new look PlayStation 5 in select retail stores in the US. That said, what should you know about it?

According to Sony, this variant is 30% thinner in volume. It is also 18% and 24% lighter in weight. The new PS5 will feature 4 different cover panels. That includes an all-matte Black colourway and the Deep Earth Collection colours in Volcanic Red, Cobalt Blue, and Sterling Silver. These covers will be available from early 2024 for $54.99 (~RM259.97).

Interestingly, the top panel sports a glossy look and matte for the bottom panel. If you have the digital version of the PS5, you can buy a separate Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive for $79.99 (~RM378.15). Aside from the horizontal stand in the box, you can buy a separate Vertical Stand compatible with all PS5 models for $29.99 (~RM141.78).

Moreover, this version of the PS5 will be the only model available once the current version is sold out. As of now, this variant will roll out in November in the US market. We have yet to confirm the Malaysia release date for this variant. However, we could safely assume that the global release for this model is coming very soon.
