Today, Sony has introduced new additions to its ULT POWER SOUND series. The new lineup includes two portable speakers: the ULT FIELD 5 and ULT FIELD 3, as well as the ULTMIC1 wireless microphone set.
Portable Speakers with Enhanced Bass
Designed for those who enjoy taking music on the move, both the ULT FIELD 5 and ULT FIELD 3 offer enhanced bass through Sony’s “ULT” button, which allows users to switch between different bass modes. The ULT FIELD 5 includes two bass modes: ULT1 for deeper lows and ULT2 for a more energetic punch. Meanwhile, the FIELD 3 offers a more compact form with an option to enhance bass when needed.
In terms of audio design, the ULT FIELD 5 integrates Sony’s X-Balanced Speaker Unit along with optimised passive radiators and a tweeter to provide clarity alongside low-end punch. The ULT FIELD 3 takes a similar approach with a 2-way driver system for clearer vocals and well-rounded output.
Both speakers offer IP66/IP67 water and dust resistance as well as saltwater resistance, making them suitable for use near pools or on the beach. The ULT FIELD 5 features up to 25 hours of battery life, while the FIELD 3 offers up to 24 hours, depending on usage. For added ambience, the ULT FIELD 5 also includes 360° Party Lights.
ULTMIC1 for Karaoke Sessions
Next, the ULTMIC1 is a set of wireless microphones tailored for karaoke fans. The mics connect seamlessly with the ULT POWER SOUND speakers via dedicated dongles, allowing up to two users to perform together. Sony says the setup delivers clear vocals, aiming to make it an accessible and enjoyable experience for casual singers.
Post Malone Collaboration and Sustainability Push
As part of a broader campaign, Sony has teamed up with music artist Post Malone, who is supporting the launch under the “For The Music” initiative. The partnership emphasises personal connection through music, with more announcements expected in the coming months.
Sony also highlights its ongoing sustainability efforts. The packaging for all three products avoids the use of plastic materials, underscoring the company’s focus on reducing environmental impact.
Availability in Malaysia
The ULT FIELD 5 is available from 7 July 2025 with the recommended retail pricing of RM1,499. ULT FIELD 3 and ULTMIC1 are available immediately with recommended retail pricing of RM899 and RM799, respectively.
