A few hours ago at midnight, Sony just unveiled the WF-1000XM5 wireless earbuds and it's set to arrive in Malaysia in August. While there's no specific date yet, we know that it's officially priced at RM1399. Here are some features that you should know.

According to Sony, the WF-1000XM5 features real-time audio processors and high-performance mics that power the specially designed driver unit Dynamic Driver X, for wide frequency reproduction, deep bass, and clear vocals. Designed for immersion and noise cancelling, Sony also integrated three microphones on each earbud, including dual feedback mics, which improve low-frequency cancellation performance.

The Integrated Processor V2 is newly developed by Sony, which boosts the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN2e delivering noise cancelling quality that can be adapted to provide the best performance for your environment. Plus, the Noise Isolation Earbud Tips feature a unique polyurethane foam material that reduces noise in the high-frequency range.

Besides noise cancelling, the WF-1000XM5 supports High-Resolution Audio Wireless thanks to LDAC, as well as DSEE Extreme to upscale compared digital music in real-time. Additionally, the earbuds feature 360 Reality Audio and head tracking technology for an immersive audio experience. Sony also said the earbuds are approximately 25% smaller and approximately 20% lighter than their predecessor, the WF-1000XM4.

There are still a couple more features but below is a list of them for your reference:

  • Speak-to-Chat
  • Adaptive Sound Control
  • Multipoint Connect
  • Qi Wireless charging
  • IPX4 water resistance

With up to 8 hours of battery life and a quick 3-minute charge that provides up to 60 minutes of playtime, WF-1000XM5 uses recycled plastic materials and adopts Sony's proprietary paper Original Blended Material for the packaging. Original Blended Material is an environmentally conscious paper material made from bamboo, sugarcane fibres, and post-consumer recycled paper.

We will have to wait for Sony's official WF-1000XM5 launching date for Malaysia in the near future. Until then, sit tight and stay tuned. You can also learn more about the latest wireless earbuds at Sony Malaysia's official web portal here
