Today, Sony has officially unveiled the WH-1000XM6, the latest addition to its flagship 1000X series. The new wireless headset will be available in Black, Platinum Silver and Midnight Blue and is now available for pre-order with a suggested retail price of RM2,099.
Kicking off the features, the WH-1000XM6 sports a new HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3, with processing speeds seven times faster than its predecessor and 12 optimally placed microphones (up from eight in the WH-1000XM5). It delivers real-time adaptive noise cancellation, and the new Adaptive NC Optimiser adjusts to changes in external noise and air pressure. At the same time, Auto Ambient Sound mode ensures transitions between music and environmental awareness.
According to Sony, the company collaborated with top-tier mastering engineers from Sterling Sound, Battery Studios, and Coast Mastering to refine the WH-1000XM6’s sound profile. The headphones feature a newly designed driver unit made with high-rigidity carbon fibre composite material, and also support High-Resolution Audio and High-Resolution Audio Wireless via LDAC. This includes DSEE Extreme for real-time upscaling of compressed music files.
In addition to the adaptive noise cancellation, the WH-1000XM6 has six AI-optimised beamforming microphones to isolate speech during calls, reducing background noise even in busy environments. Its traditional swipe controls are present as well, allowing users to toggle between modes, and the design is back to foldable like before, with new vegan leather headbands. A quick 3-minute charge provides up to 3 hours of playback, and USB charging allows continued listening while powering up.
The pre-order promotion includes a premium headphone stand worth RM199, and a TnG RM50 upon product warranty registration in MySony.
