It has been three long years since Sony launched the WH-1000XM5. Today, a French media news outlet reported that the company is possibly unveiling the next-gen flagship headphones, the WH-1000XM6. Sony Australia also revealed the launch date online: 16 May 2:00 AEST, which is 12 AM on the same day as Malaysia.

According to the source, the details were leaked prematurely from an early Amazon Spain listing and FCC filings. The WH-1000XM6 is expected to feature an upgraded QN3 HD noise-cancelling processor, which is reportedly seven times faster than the QN1 chip found in the previous model. Additionally, the headphones will incorporate an AI-powered six-microphone beamforming system to enhance voice call clarity.

In response to user feedback, Sony is reportedly reintroducing a foldable design in the WH-1000XM6, enhancing portability, a feature absent in the WH-1000XM5. The new model is also expected to have detachable earpads, facilitating easier maintenance and customisation. Colour options may include black, platinum silver, and midnight blue, offering users a range of aesthetic choices.

On top of that, the WH-1000XM6 is anticipated to support fast USB-C charging, Bluetooth 5.3, potentially including LE Audio for improved efficiency and performance. While specific battery life details remain unconfirmed, enhancements over the previous model's performance are likely. The inclusion of a traditional headphone jack may also be present for various audio sources.

In terms of pricing, the WH-1000XM6 could be priced at approximately $449.99 (~RM1.9K) in the US, which is $50 more than the predecessor. The price increase could be influenced by the recent tariffs and other improved features. With that, stay tuned for the official Sony WH-1000XM6 news coverage only at TechNave.com.
