Sony Malaysia today announced that it will be launching its latest mid-range offering, the Sony Xperia 10 IV in our country in August 2022. The world’s lightest smartphone with 5G connectivity at just 161 grams, it features a 6-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio and wrapped in Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.
Under the hood, the Xperia 10 IV is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset, 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage. It also sports a 5000mAh battery capable of up to 30W fast charging.
Speaking of the battery, Sony said that the device has all-day battery life as well as battery health reliability even after 3 years. The latter is thanks to Sony’s Xperia Adaptive Charging which monitors the battery whilst charging to ensure that it isn’t overworked.
Camera-wise, its rear has a 12MP main with OIS + 8MP ultrawide + 8MP telephoto triple-camera setup and an 8MP selfie camera at its front. Furthermore, Sony has also added several new features including a Superior Auto Mode, Auto HDR, Night mode, Advanced Blur Reduction and AI-based face sharpening for selfies.
It also still retains the 3.5mm audio jack which also supports High-Resolution Audio. In fact, even wireless headphones can now support the feature, whereby LDAC transmits approximately three times more data than conventional Bluetooth audio.
Moreover, it also supports DSEE Ultimate which enhances the sound quality of digital music. Working in real time, it uses AI technology to reproduce the detailed acoustic subtleties and clear high-frequency sounds often lost during audio compression and can work with local files and audio streaming services.
Completing the specs list are an IP65/68 water and dust resistance, Android 12 OS out of the box, 360 Audio and 360 Reality Audio Upmix which transforms stereo into surround sound and comes in either Black or Mint. However, like many other tech companies nowadays, no charger will be included in the box.
No pricing has been announced just yet for the Malaysian market. In Europe, the Xperia 10 IV is priced at €499 or ~RM2308.
