Sony Xperia XZ3 revealed in IFA 2018 with Android 9.0 Pie, 6-inch OLED display and more for ~RM3700

Today, Sony Mobile has finally unveiled the Xperia XZ3. If we count in their predecessor, the Xperia XZ2 that was revealed earlier this year in February 2018 at the MWC 2018 event, as well as the XZ2 Premium, the Xperia XZ3 is already their third flagship and also the first newest phone to come with Android 9.0 Pie (not counting upgrades). By the way, its price tag is listed $900 in the United States, which roughly translates to ~RM3702 here. Not surprised, haha.

So what's new? Well, the Ambient Flow design is here to stay to nothing radical per say. However, the phone is indeed bigger now stretching out to 6-inch and the screen panel is OLED + Gorilla Glass 5 material, whereas the body is even tougher than before using a 7000-series aluminium frame. They are also refusing to use the notch and that's nice, keeping the same 18:9 aspect ratio. It's also great to know that the display resolution is "QHD + HDR" which is usually used on their BRAVIA TV image processing technology. That's some high-quality stuff.

Have to admit, this actually looks better than the XZ2

Here's how the bottom looks like (same goes to the top), you can see one of the speakers of the S-Force Front Surround Sound there

The fingerprint sensor is still in the middle of the phone, though -,-

Nevertheless, the phone is crafted elegantly

Then to the specifications, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor is there, so as the 4GB RAM (bummer) and a rather small 64GB storage (considering that most phones nowadays are skipping it). Even though that's the case, you can expand it with a 512GB microSD card so no problem there. The battery pack is just 3330mAh which is not bad and now has Qi wireless charging technology, but we don't know how fast it charges. Below is the complete tech-specs list:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, Adreno 630
  • 4GB of RAM
  • 64GB storage (expandable memory available up to 512GB)
  • 6.0-inch OLED display (1440 x 2880 pixels)
  • Dimension
