Sony has announced the release of its latest vlog camera, the Sony ZV-1F. A cheaper (albeit with fewer features) version of the popular Sony ZV-1, the company is positioning the new camera as the new go-to camera for vloggers and creators who want to capture stunning stills and videos.

Moreover, Sony claims that the pocket-size camera has been optimised for vlogging with the company’s latest technology to make content stand out. Check out the ZV-1F’s key features below:

  • Fixed ultra-wide-angle 20 mm F2.0 prime lens for selfie shooting
  • Background bokeh and Face-priority AE to ensure subjects standout
  • Skin tone optimisation including Soft Skin Effect option
  • High precision focusing and Eye AF for both humans and animals
  • Active Mode (electronic) image stabilisation when shooting video
  • Creative Look presets for ultimate visual expression
  • Slow motion and quick motion options to enhance creativity
  • Product Showcase Setting for product reviews
  • Enhanced touchscreen features with Touch Zoom and Step Zoom functionality
  • Clear voice recording with 3-capsule mic and windscreen
  • 4K 30p /FHD 120p
  • Easy smartphone connection to transfer content for social platforms
  • Eco-friendly features for reduced environmental impact

According to Sony Electronics Asia Pacific’s Director of Digital Imaging Division Yasufumi Machitani, the ZV-1F is designed with creators in mind and considering how audiences drive the demand for higher-quality content, creators need an all-in-one camera solution that delivers superior quality with creative options. The new Vlog camera is hoping to satisfy the needs of creators, especially with how easy it is to use, including being designed for wireless content sharing.

Most notably, the ZV-1F fixes the biggest complaint that users have regarding the ZV-1, which is the latter’s narrow field of view. The new ZV-1F now boasts an ultra-wide 20mm prime lens for optimum selfie shooting and a wide field of view to capture more background. However, do note that the prime lens does lose the versatility of ZV-1’s lens, including losing on optical zoom and built-in ND filters.
