PlayStation has announced a new price increase for its PlayStation Plus subscription service in selected regions. Starting 20 May 2026, new subscribers will need to pay more for the one-month and three-month membership plans.

The updated pricing now starts at USD10.99 (~RM52) for the one-month subscription plan, while the three-month option has increased to USD27.99 (~RM132). Sony said the pricing adjustment was made due to current market conditions and to help maintain the quality of the service offered to subscribers.

Here are the newly announced PlayStation Plus price

1-Month Subscription

  • Previous price: USD9.99 (~RM47)
  • New price: USD10.99 (~RM52)

3-Month Subscription

  • Previous price: USD24.99 (~RM118)
    New price: USD27.99 (~RM132)

According to Sony, existing subscribers who maintain an active membership without interruption may continue using their current pricing for now. However, any membership changes such as upgrades, downgrades, cancellations, or renewals after the effective date could trigger the new pricing structure, depending on the region.

At the time of writing, Sony has not confirmed whether the revised PlayStation Plus pricing will also affect Malaysia. The company only mentioned selected regions in its announcement, so local subscribers may need to wait for additional confirmation from regional PlayStation channels.

Is the price hike valid to tolerate?

The announcement follows several recent pricing adjustments involving PlayStation hardware and services globally. Unsurprisingly, the latest increase has sparked discussions among gamers online, especially as subscription-based gaming services continue becoming a larger part of the gaming ecosystem.

For now, the changes only involve shorter subscription plans. Sony has yet to announce any updates involving annual PlayStation Plus memberships or higher-tier plans such as PlayStation Plus Extra and Deluxe.

What do you think about the latest PlayStation Plus price increase? Will it affect your gaming subscriptions moving forward?
