Sony is ready to launch the fourth instalment of its flagship Xperia 1 by announcing an event scheduled on 11 May. Although the teaser poster that mentions the event doesn't specify the product's name, we're still almost certain that it's the Xperia 1 IV with tons of rumours circulating recently.
Sony doesn't usually hold events to launch its new products. However, when it does, it's always for the flagship ones. Besides that, not to mention that the Xperia 1 III has passed its due date, which further proves that Xperia 1 IV will make its appearance at the event.
Recent CAD (computer-aided design)-based renders have given us a sneak peek at the upcoming device. Of course, Sony will stick to what it has been offering by letting the device feature a 21:9 display aspect ratio and the old-school camera in bezel style. Despite that, there might be some new changes, and one of them is a periscope camera. It still remains to be seen if it will join the rumoured camera setup (48MP primary + 50MP ultrawide + 48MP telephoto).
