Sony has announced the new PS5 VR controllers and they surely look amazing. The controllers now feature a more ergonomic design by being orb-shaped. Hideaki Nishino, the Head of platform planning and management at PlayStation, said that the controllers will soon be sent to game developers for testing.

The new VR controllers feature the same adaptive trigger technology found on the DualSense PS5 controller. They also have haptic feedback and finger touch detection that allow them to detect fingers without having the players press areas where they rest their thumb, index, or middle fingers. Nishino said having these features will "enable players to make more natural gestures with their hands during gameplay".

Furthermore, these controllers will also include tracking to Sony’s new VR headset via a ring at the bottom of the controller. For now, the company's next-gen VR headset is obviously not here yet and there's no plan for launching the device in 2021 as well. However, it's still glad to know that some progress has been made.
