Have you ever wondered if Sony would make flying drones with cameras? The company does indeed have plans to compete with the likes of DJI and Parrot after it launched the Airpeak project yesterday. Sony also confirms that Airpeak will support creators and the development of the entertainment industry.

According to the Sony announcement, Sony Airpeak aims to enable the "highest level of safety and reliability in the environments where this has been difficult in the past". From the description, it sounds like Sony aims to deliver drones that are more robust to handle such environments. We can also expect drone models that are targeted at professionals and consumers.

No details on the drone or camera's specs have been revealed yet. But Sony did mention the term "co-creation activities", so it could mean that the project will have partnerships or collaborations with other companies. This will most likely be for developing the drone, as Sony does not have expertise in that area.

It's rather interesting to see that Sony has decided to go into this area, but what are your thoughts on this? Let us know in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news like this.
