As Malaysian gamers are getting ready for the Sony PlayStation 5's arrival, they might also have to face the fact that the PS5 games will be more expensive as well. According to a news report, Sony officials have confirmed that the usual $60 (~RM248) price tag will be increased to $70 (~RM289). Not all of the game titles will get it, but it will be inevitable for Triple-A types.

Just so you know, the $60 price tag is fixed for the past 15 years whenever a new video game gets released. In Sony's defence, they said the reason why the price will be increased is that as video games are getting longer and immersive thanks to technology breakthroughs, more time and manpower are needed. Indeed, developing video games nowadays requires a lot of resources and capital, and it's critical for game developers' future.

$10 is not a lot in their region, but it's a different story for us. Nonetheless, many people including non-gamers have turned to video games in times of comfort during this year while staying at home. At the moment, the upcoming PS5 games such as Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Demon’s Souls and others will be priced from RM209 to RM299 at the 11 December launch.

There's no official date by Sony on when they will increase the price, but it will be just a matter of time. Anyway, the PS5 pre-order for Malaysia has already begun and we have a list of retailers on where you can make your purchase.
