Sony gears up for a gaming-centric Xperia event on 12 September

Sony is preparing to reveal new products at another Xperia event on 12 September. It was not long ago when the brand launched the Xperia 5 IV, and it's moving forward fast. However, this Xperia event is not the usual one, as it seems like the brand is launching some gaming-centric products.

The tagline for this upcoming event is "made for pro gamers and streamers". It's unknown what exactly it'll bring, but we could have something from like a mobile controller to even a gaming phone. It's worth mentioning that Sony teamed up with BackBone to launch the BackBone One PlayStation Edition controller for iOS devices earlier this year. Therefore, an Android version of this gamepad could show up at this event.

Although a mobile gaming controller sounds more plausible, we're still secretly hoping for an Xperia gaming phone. Sony hasn't made a gaming phone since the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play in 2011. If you've forgotten what it's like, it's a mobile phone with a slide-out gamepad featuring four face buttons, a D-pad, a pair of shoulder buttons, and dual trackpads in lieu of analog sticks.
