Dynamic pricing is nothing new and is used in a variety of industries. However, it is usually rare in online game stores and often draws criticism.
Sony is testing this feature on a large scale
According to PSprices, Sony is currently running a large-scale A/B test across 68 regions, where the same game is displayed at different prices for different users. Some PlayStation Store users may see experimental prices that are significantly lower than the regular retail price.
The test involved 139 games, including Sony's own AAA video games, such as Spider-Man 2, God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2. For now, Sony is not raising prices in general, but instead offering discounts to certain users of up to 17.6%. As of now, there are no further details on the news. So, we should wait for more announcements from Sony.
