Watching movies from Sony Pictures on your PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 sounds awesome but how does it work? Well, it's a little bit complicated but from Sony's blog post today, the service won't be in Malaysia anytime soon but here's the breakdown.

First, Sony has this app called Bravia Core which offers access to all Sony Pictures movies on the company's Bravia TV lineup and select Xperia devices. Sony has decided to rebrand Bravia Core to Sony Pictures Core and it will be launching on the PS5 and PS4. You will need to sign up for the Sony Pictures Core app first, though, or be an existing PlayStation Plus Premium/Deluxe member.

According to Sony, Sony Pictures Core members can buy or rent up to 2000 movies straight from the PS5 and PS4. You will be able to watch all Sony-licensed movies including the latest Spider-Man movies from the MCU. Some movies like Gran Turismo with IMAX Enhanced will have an early access window in select markets such as the U.K., France, Germany, and Japan.

Speaking of which, this movie is also available in the U.S., Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and will premiere soon in additional markets. If you purchase it in Sony Pictures Core, you will get credit for in-game purchases in Gran Turismo 7, including cars featured in the movie. If you don't like the idea of buying or renting, then perhaps being a PS Plus Premium/Deluxe member is better.

For PS Plus Premium/Deluxe members, you will only access and stream up to 100 movies. The movies will be ad-free and Sony will update the library periodically. Sony mentioned that there will be additional benefits for all PlayStation Plus members, so stay tuned for more details. Lastly, not only will you get to check out Sony Pictures movies but the company is also planning to add anime content from Crunchyroll.

As aforementioned, Malaysia is not part of the first wave but Sony Pictures Core will be launching today in 23 markets globally. The app can be found in the PS5's Media Section and PS4's PS Store. For more information, please visit the official webpage here.
