Sony raises the price for PS Plus subscription, again

Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that PlayStation Plus subscription prices in 15 Latin American countries would increase on April 16 due to global market conditions. Countries involved include Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay. So, what should you know about it?

This price increase will affect all three subscription plans, namely:

  • Essential: Starting from $7.99 (1 month), $20.99 (3 months), $64.99 (12 months)
  • Extra: Starting from $11.99 (1 month), $33.99 (3 months), $107.99 (12 months)
  • Deluxe: Starting from $13.99 (1 month), $39.99 (3 months), $124.99 (12 months)

Additionally, existing users will be charged the new price on their next payment cycle, starting June 24. Any subscription changes after April 16 will continue to use the new price. For comparison, the 12-month subscription price in Malaysia for the Essential, Extra and Deluxe plans is RM235, RM400 and RM460. It is not yet known whether local users will be affected as well, but one day, subscription prices in Malaysia will likely increase.
