Sony published a financial report for the period between October and December 2024 which showed that 75 million PlayStation 5 consoles have been sold since it was launched in 2020. Last quarter, 9.5 million PS5 units were sold which was the highest in a quarter since its launch. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, There were 129 million monthly active users, a 5% increase from the same quarter last year. Console and video game sales increased by 16%. This increase was driven by demand for the PlayStation 5 Pro and the year-end holiday season.
Additionally, Sony is on track to sell 18 million consoles in the 2024 fiscal year that ends next March. At this point, PS5 sales are only 1.5 million behind PS4 sales during the same period. That also puts the PS5 as the 13th best-selling console of all time. It's still well behind the PlayStation 2, which has sold over 160 million units since March 2000.
