As 2020 comes to a close, developers are now using Android 11 and updating the software on selected smartphones over time. So far, Xiaomi is the only company that has rolled out Android 11 software update on a few Xiaomi phones. While other Android users will have to wait, Sony just announced their roadmap for the update.

According to the source, only 5 Sony smartphones have been chosen for the software update. The 5 phones are none other than the Xperia 1 II, Xperia 5 II, Xperia 10 II, Xperia 5 and Xperia 10. The former will be getting the update first this month, whereas the rest (2 at a time) will only receive it in January and February 2021 respectively.

In case you're wondering on what could the updates bring, it's said that Sony will be introducing Notification Categories, Notifications History, Chat Bubble Notifications and a Native Screen Recording feature. The Media Notification controls will be moved to the Quick Settings panel as well.

Sony is having a weird record of introducing a smartphone but releasing them at a much later date which would lose the hype by then. Nonetheless, the tech specs and features are quite impressive, same goes to the price tag that is deemed too expensive for many consumers.
