Sony to introduce LinkBuds earphones on 16 Feb 2022, and maybe the WH-1000XM5 too

In the last few years, Sony has launched a new pair of true wireless stereo (TWS) earphones and wireless headphones annually. For earbuds, we've already seen leaks of the Sony LinkBuds last week. This will probably be officially unveiled at a launch in two days.

Yesterday, Sony scheduled a new YouTube event for 16 February 2022. Based on the title and video thumbnail, it's safe to say that this is the launch for the Sony LinkBuds. This new model has an unusual ring shape for the part that's normally the earbud. Sony describes it as an 'Always on' sound gateway, while users claim that it has 360-degree Spatial Audio Mapping for a more immersive audio experience.

WH-1000MX5 spotted on US FCC website

But Sony might have more than one audio device up its sleeve. According to Notebookcheck, the Sony WH-1000XM5 has been certified by the US FCC recently. There's a chance it could also be revealed at this week's online event. Anyway, it's suggested that the new model could come with some tweaks to the design, a larger battery capacity, and fast charging support.

The Sony LinkBuds launch is sure to happen. But we're not too sure if the WH-1000XM5 will show up, so we'll be watching the live stream to find out. Until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more news and updates like this.
