The chat function on gaming consoles lets you and other players engage in a conversation that could lead you to victory. However, some of you might not be using the chat service solely for gaming purposes but for some casual chit chats that could be deemed as private. With that said, you might need to be careful when chatting with others from now on as Sony will start moderating chats of PlayStation users.

The news was found out when users of PlayStation 4 received the latest 8.0 update today. They all have gotten a message about Party Safety which notified them that their voice chats may be recorded for moderation by agreeing to join one. After the update became a hot topic, Sony made a statement on Twitter mentioning that the feature is not by default and it's completely a user-controlled one.

However, it looks like only users of the upcoming PlayStation 5 can record their voice chats. For PlayStation 4 users, the feature will not be available on their consoles. The only way for the voice chat of a PlayStation 4 user to be recorded is when he or she is chatting with a PlayStation 5 user. Therefore, it is kind of not fair for how Sony introduced the feature to its users.
