As we have entered the second half of the year, some of the smartphone manufacturers are gearing up for the second wave of flagship war. Earlier, it has been announced that the highly-anticipated Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series will be launched at the Unpacked Event happening on 5 August. Other than Samsung, Huawei is well-prepared to fight the war with the upcoming Mate 40 series as well, and the tech specs sheet has been leaked today ahead of the launch event.

From the specs sheet, we can see the Mate 40 is expected to feature a 1080P OLED full screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz, while the Mate 40 Pro will come with a 90° OLED waterfall screen with the same refresh rate. Both of them will also house the 5nm Kirin 1020 (might be 1000) chipset with the support for the 5G network.

For photography, the vanilla Mate 40 might bring a triple-camera setup which includes a 50MP RYYB main sensor, a 16MP 17mm focal length ultra-wide lens, and a 3x optical zoom lens. As for the Mate 40 Pro, it might feature a quad-camera setup that brings a 50MP free lens, a 5x periscope telephoto lens, and a ToF lens alongside the 50MP RYYB main sensor. At the front, both of them could have bangs to house the front-facing camera. The Pro variant is said to have smaller bangs to house a 32MP autofocus camera, and the standard one will come with a 24MP fixed-focus camera.

Besides those, the other hardware specs have also been revealed. The battery capacity of the Mate 40 is expected to range between 4200 and 4500mAh, and the Pro variant will have a slightly larger capacity ranging from 4500 to 5000mAh. For fast-charging, the vanilla variant will support 40W wired charging and 27W wireless charging, while the Pro variant supports 66W wired charging and 40W wireless charging. Both of the devices will run EMUI 11, packed with dual speakers and Z-axis linear motors, and support off-screen fingerprint and face recognition.

With all those powerful specs mentioned, how much will the devices cost? The leaked price shows us that the standard Mate 40 might be sold at 4,499 Yuan (~RM2,746) for 6/128GB, 4,999 Yuan (~RM3,051) for 8/128GB and 5,499 Yuan (~RM3,357) for 8/256GB. On the other hand, the Mate 40 Pro will, of course, be priced higher with 6,499 Yuan (~RM3,967) for 8/128GB, 6,999 Yuan (~RM4,272) for 8/256GB and 7,999 Yuan (~RM4,883) for 12/512GB.
